Finding Peace In The Midst of the Storm

As I write this, all the world has become transfixed on the coverage of the Novel Corona Virus that is upon us.

Governments and leaders everywhere are working to protect, educate and inform.

Hospitals are working tirelessly around the clock to provide care.

Our hearts are deeply saddened by the loss of lives.

Our minds are upset seeing entire nations in turmoil.

How are we to cope when faced with a problem of this magnitude?

Before Jesus left to return to heaven, He took the time to foretell us of things that would happen in these end times.

"There will be great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences (diseases, epidemics, infectious viruses and plagues) in various places,

and fearful events, and great signs from heaven.  (Luke 21:11)

In Matthew 24, He explained that all these are the beginnings of birth pains.

But He didn't stop there.

In Matthew 28 the Lord gives us His promise that He will be with us, all the way the very end of the age.

In order for us to be able to remain in peace, the "Prince of Peace" left us His peace:

"My peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give you as the world gives.

Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)

This takes a conscience decision to push back emotions, stay calm, pray, claiming protection,

and act upon whatever the Lord shows us to do.

Lay hold of our covenant promise!

We use God given wisdom, we make healthy choices, but we must also claim our God given benefits:

Psalm 103:
Bless the Lord, oh my soul,

Who forgives all my sins, and heals all my diseases.

Psalm 91:

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress (place of protection),

My God, in whom I trust.

Surely He will save you from the deadly pestilence. (vs 3)

You will not fear  the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,

nor fear the plague that destroys by midday. (vs 6)

no  disaster will come near your tent,

for He will command His angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.

The Lord knows that fear is an enemy of faith. He has provided precious promises of His protection to be claimed.

‚ÄčThe Lord is watching over His Word to perform it, (Jeremiah 1:12)

so although we see a crisis spiraling out of control,

we need to stop, come aside, tap into faith, and put God's Word in our mouths and boldly declare it.

Over ourselves, our loved ones, neighbors, and communities.

When sickness comes upon our bodies, healing is available!

cling to the promise of healing found in Isaiah 53:5 -

"He was wounded (pierced through) for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities,

The chastisement that bought our peace was upon Him,

and by His stripes, WE ARE HEALED !

Psalm 34:7

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear the Lord and deliver them from harm.

Proverbs 4:23

"Above All Else, Guard Your Heart, for Everything You Do Flows From It"

My sisters, by all means, please use wisdom. Purchase what you need.

Prepare your households against the day of adversity.

We must do our part.  But please do so in peace, not in panic buying as we see the world doing.

Jesus foretold these things so that we WOULD BE aware they were coming, and know to take precautions.

"The wise person see's danger coming and hides himself ...." (Proverbs 22:3)

"The prudent, sensible person see's trouble coming and avoids it... (Proverbs 27:12)

There is nothing wrong with watching the evening news to stay abreast of  events,

but please make a faith based choice to spend at least as much time in prayer, in the Word of God,

and listening to the Holy Spirit, as we spend watching the news.

Peace grows as faith grows, and faith comes by hearing the Word of God.

Get into the Word, and find out what our Heavenly Father has to say about it.

He doesn't want us to be in fear  or anxiety.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,

by prayer, and  supplication with thanksgiving, present your requests to God...and (then),

the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses and transcends all understanding,

will guard your hearts and your minds, in Christ Jesus"

(Philippians 4: 6-7)

Instead of getting in panic or anxiety,

we can focus our time, strength and energy in prayer for wisdom, and for protection,

and we can help others around us to do the same.

If anyone lacks wisdom (about what to do in any circumstance or situation),

you should ask God who gives (wisdom) generously to everyone who asks, without finding fault.

Ask, and it (wisdom) will be given to you.

(James 1:5)

     You are NEVER alone.

You are NEVER without God's gift of  lasting peace.

You are the recipient of the greatest peace that will ever exist.
