Some days, the world we live in seems to be more than we can handle.

Troubles, dangers, and problems are ever increasing.
We are bombarded with stressors, cares, pressures, difficulties, hardships, worries, and issues of life.
Some things we can see coming, and we have time to prepare for, plan, strategize, and adjust.
Other times, we are hit with the unexpected, when there is little to no time to brace for impact.
As we try to cope, the result is often fear, worry and anxiety.

If this sounds familiar, or is hitting a nerve, you aren’t alone, and you aren’t imagining it. 2nd Timothy 3:1 warns us of this.

“but understand this: that in the last days, dangerous times of great stress and trouble will come, difficult days that will be hard to bear.”

But this truth must be balanced with knowing our Lord will never leave us, forsake us, or abandon us.

He is faithful to His people.

                                                                                                               Proverbs 12:25, tells us

“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down."

The New King James version readsAnxiety in the heart of man causes depression”…

Our loving creator knows that if we remain in a place of fear, worry and anxiety long term,                                                                                                                 it can eventually lead to discouragement, downheartedness, despair, or even depression.

And that is not God’s plan for us.

He came to give us life, and life more abundantly!

Anxiety is a feeling of being uneasy and nervous about something we expect to happen.

To worry is to mentally dwell on difficulty or trouble.
Both anxiety and worry are ultimately rooted in fear.

2 Timothy 1:7 assures us that

“God has not given us the spirit of fear; but (the spirit of) love, power, and, and of a sound mind."

Are you ready for God’s remedy, his prescription for fear, worry and anxiety?

It is found in Philippians 4: 6-7.

                                                                                                                             Here it is!

“Do not be anxious about anything,

But in everything, (every single circumstance and situation)
with prayer, and petition with thanksgiving,
let your request be made known to God. And (then as a result),
the peace of God will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus”

If we will only slow down and look at this passage of scripture carefully, and break it down,

we can begin to be set free, and help those around us to be set free.

                                                                                                                            STEP ONE:

“Do not be anxious about anything!

The first thing we will notice is that there is not one single, solitary instance in our life when the Lord gives His okay to be anxious about something.

He doesn’t hand out “anxiety permission slips” for the more difficult, “big” things.

“Which of you by worrying, can add one hour to the length of his life ?” Matthew 6:27 (Amplified bible)

The Lord knows that worry and anxiety are futile, and only accomplish harm.

No. Instead He says “Do not be anxious about anything.” Period.
My goodness, that’s a tall order.
But He would not command this if He were not able to empower us, and give us the ability to do so.
Step one is to make a decision to agree with the Lord that His will that we not be anxious is best.

                                                                                                                            STEP TWO

"…But in everything, (every single circumstance and situation)
with prayer, and petition with thanksgiving,
let your request be made known to God."

In absolutely everything we could ever go through, the Lord wants us to bring it to Him in prayer.

He WANTS you to come boldly to visit Him in His throne room where we pour out our hearts..
whatever you are feeling, all of it.
Don’t hold it back. You are not bothering Him.

As I write this, my daughter has been re-hospitalized for an infection that developed following brain surgery.

My mother-in-law has been placed into hospice.

"Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence,

so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
                                                                                                                         Hebrews 4:16

In addition to bringing everything to God in prayer, 1 Peter 5:7 also commands us to

“Cast all of our anxiety on Him, because He cares for you”.

The word cast means to throw it away, get rid of it, toss it.

I can't tell you how much I love this verse!

It is a tremendously important verse, because we can tend to pray about something, but also still hang onto it.

This is another way of saying the Jesus is our caretaker, our caregiver.

Our loving Savior has already carried our distresses, our sorrows.

He is our ally, our power, He is the help we need to make it. Run to Him.

Our Lord Jesus is familiar with our human weaknesses.

Remember that He also experienced great stress and anxiety in the garden before His crucifixion,
intensely distressed to the point of sweating drops of blood.

                                                                                                                  "Then he said to them,

My soul (mind, emotions) is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: wait here, and watch with me."
                                                                                                                    Matthew 26:38

                                                                                                                   Isaiah 53:4 tells us

“Surely He carried our pain, grief, distress, and sorrows and bore our suffering…"

Jesus has already carried all our stress, anxiety, fear upon Himself on the cross.

He doesn’t want us carrying harmful fear, worry and anxiety.
He wants us to give it to Him.
Put it on the cross where it belongs.

Lets consider another powerful truth about “casting” from Psalm 55:22

"Cast your burden (anxieties and cares) to the Lord.
Release it, and He will sustain you and uphold you. (hold you up)
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (to slip, fall or fail)."

So now that you have poured out your heart in prayer and dealt with anything He shows you,

such as repenting of anger, fear, or negative actions or words of doubt you may have spoken,
Now it’s time to move into petitioning.

We are commanded to make our petition known!

My dear sister, do you realize that all of heaven is waiting to hear your petition?

                                                                                                    Petitioning is a serious matter.
It’s not a hasty, flippant quick, off the cuff prayer.
It’s thoughtfully, prayerfully asking for something(s) very specific to happen.

And then waiting, without wavering, for God to work on your behalf.

                                                          In a courtroom, if someone is petitioning for custody, or to have a legal right to something;

the entire legal petition is spelled out in clear, concise terms.

The God of the heavens is inviting us to tell Him what it is we want help with.

And there is nothing that says you can only have one petition.

You can have as many different petitions before the throne as you have issues to deal with.

After having spent time in prayer, you may very well find a release of all the emotions and uneasy feelings.

This begins to clear our hearts and minds to begin to calm down,

we begin to feel more rational and composed so that we can think more clearly.
Now it’s time to consider what you really need to petition Him for, and why.
If you aren’t sure, ask Him. It’s that simple.

                                                                                                                James 1:5 promises us:

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, (generously)
without reproach; ask, and it shall be given him."

And finally, we are told to make the petition with thanksgiving!

A petition laid at Jesus throne must be brought to Him with a heart of gratefulness and praise.
If we are not in the right frame of heart and mind, we need to go back to our prayer room again.

                                                                                                            Psalm 100:4 commands us to

“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and enter into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name”

We can be thankful because 1 Corinthians 15:57 promises us:

"But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our LORD Jesus Christ!"

We can be thankful because we are sure that Jesus can not only handle the petition you need,

He can do EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY more.
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that worketh in us..(that power is the Holy Spirit)
                                                                                                                    Ephesians 3:20-21

We can be thankful because 1 John 5:15 tells us that

“If we know that He hears us, then whatever we ask of Him, we know that we have our petition”.

We can be thankful because Psalm 68:19 promises us that

“Blessed be the Lord who bears our burdens day by day!”

We can be thankful because Matthew 11:28 assures us

“Come to me, all who are weary…and I will give you rest.”

AND FINALLY - STEP THREE (THE BEST STEP OF ALL)

                                                                                                              …..And (then as a result),

the peace of God will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7)

One we have recognized that there is something that we are worried, fearful or anxious about,

or even when we don't know WHAT, we just FEEL worried or anxious,

and have taken the matter into the throne room in prayer until we feel a release,
and once we have made our petition to the Lord and rolled the care to Him,
we now receive the promise of God’s peace guarding our hearts, and our minds, in Christ Jesus!

Glory to God! This is how we get freedom!

GOD’S PEACE replaces the ANXIOUS THOUGHTS IN OUR MINDS, and the EMOTIONS IN OUR HEARTS.

"The Lord gives strength to His people. The Lord blesses His people with peace."

                                                                                                                       Psalm 29:11

My dear Sisters, This is HUGE! This is our pathway to VICTORY!

The incredible benefit of peace belongs to the people of God.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits”

                                                                                                                          Psalm 103:2

The promise of Proverbs 4:20-22 is clear, and it's ours:

"Attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
