We’ve all heard that old saying “Patience is a Virtue”.

If there has ever been a time when we can benefit from having patience, steadiness and endurance, its now.

No matter what we go through, God is still who He says He Is and He wants us to hold on... to Him!

Let’s look at this important topic.

WHAT we need now is the ability to endure whatever we are facing.

HOW we need to endure is with patience, not with frustration, anger, agitation or fear.

What It Means To Have Endurance:

I grew up in a generation before computers, internet, cell phones or smart phones.

The World Book Encyclopedia and a Webster's dictionary were integral components of my education.

If I asked an adult a question about a word or a place, the answer was always the same:

 Look It Up!

To this day, I still look things up, and I learn a lot of helpful information.

The Merriam Webster Dictionary says this:

Endure- to remain firm under suffering or misfortune without yielding, though it is difficult.

Endurance - the ability to withstand hardship or adversity especially:

the ability to sustain a prolonged stressful effort or activity (a marathon runner's endurance);

the act or an instance of enduring or suffering endurance of many hardships.

Wikopedia adds more insight:

The ability to exert and remain active for a long period of time, as well as

the ability to resist, withstand, recover from, and have immunity to trauma, wounds or fatigue.

Wiktionary describes enduring as:

To continue to o carry on despite obstacles or hardships, to persist.

The Oxford Dictionary defines endurance as:

The power of enduring an unpleasant, or difficult process or situation without giving way.

Synonyms include “bearing up, having stamina or staying power, the ability to persevere, to have tenacity,

determination, ability to stick with it, or grit”.

Now that we have a fuller understanding of endurance, how are we going to have endurance like this?

By Getting It From God!

God provides The STRENGTH For GREAT ENDURANCE with Patience

In the book of Colossians (Chapter 1, vs 3-14), Paul commends the young church,

and encourages the believers by telling them that the apostles are praying for them

to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will

which will benefit them in many ways, including the benefit of:

and JOYFULLY giving thanks to the Father

who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints (believers) in the Kingdom of Light!

Knowing God’s will is imperative to enduring in the day and age we live in

and so much of God’s will is clearly spelled out for us.

Gods will is for people be saved!

God desires all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 2:4

The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness,

but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

God’s will is for people to receive the Holy Spirit.

Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you, and always be with you.

John 14:16

When you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation,

and when you believed in Him, you were also sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 1:13

All who are led by God’s Spirit are God’s children.

Romans 8:14

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name…

John 14:26

The Lord knows that our own human patience and will run out, and will not get us through difficult times.

He doesn’t just leave it up to us to produce or muster up this patience or endurance.

The fruit of the (Holy) Spirit is:

Love, Joy, Peace, PATIENCE, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control….

Galatians 5:22

The Holy Spirit empowers us with the ability to remain steady, even during suffering and times of crisis.

You may ask HOW God's strength and power get from Heaven, down here to earth into our lives.

It is through the Holy Spirit.

Consider our Lord Jesus during His earthly ministry as a man.

While although still the Son of God, He relied upon the power of the Holy Spirit for everything He did.

Every miracle, every creative power, every act of wisdom and revelation knowledge, and prophetic word,

as well as the strength, and ability to endure the being beaten, tortured and nailed to a cross.

It was also the Holy Spirit who raised Him from the dead.

Romans 8:11 promises US "If the  Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells inside you,

He (the Holy Spirit) who raised Jesus from the dead will ALSO give (resurrection) life to OUR mortal bodies

through His Spirit, who dwells in us.

If the Lord Jesus needed the Holy Spirit in His life on earth over two thousand years ago,

Jesus compared those in the end times whose love (for Him) grows cold, vs. those who ENDURE to the end.

Upon His ascension back to heaven, told that His followers that when He returned to His Father in Heaven,

He would send the Holy Spirit to live inside of them.

The Holy Spirit is available to every believer today.

The Holy Spirit was not just given to those in the city of Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.

For it is the promise to you, and for your children, and for all who are afar off (including the Gentiles)

even as many as the Lord our God shall call unto Him.

Acts 2:39 Amplified Bible

We know that the call is for all, whosoever will, and we know that God is still calling people to be saved.

Now back to "holding on":

We see that God’s will is that those who are His children,

those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior,

those who have been sealed with the Holy Spirit when they believed in Jesus,

should grab hold of the fruit of patience (or anything else we need) provided to us,

and continually receive God’s own strength with God's own power according to God's own might

which is limitless!

The FIRST STEP to receiving this strength, or anything else that comes from the Lord is

by having an inner, personal relationship through the new birth, salvation.

It's Jesus coming to live inside a believer through His Holy Spirit.

Having A Relationship with Jesus = Having A Relationship With The Heavenly Father

Having The Heavenly Father = Having The Spirit Who Comes From The Father

Having The Spirit Who Comes From The Father = Having Power, Strength, Patience, Ability to Endure

Not Having  Jesus = Not Having The Father

Not Having The Father = Not Having The Spirit Who Comes From The Father

Not Having The Spirit Who Comes From The Father = Not Having Divine Power, Strength. or Endurance

My sister, if you are not absolutely certain that you are saved,

if there is any doubt that you belong to the Lord, and that He has been given legal spiritual authority over your life,

if you have not made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior,

if it feels like your connection with God is more outward religion, than inner relationship with Him,

or if you have slipped away from Him and want to recommit and rededicate yourself,

please consider these few life changing scriptures. Nothing is more important.

I tell you the truth, no one can see the Kingdom of God (heaven) unless they are born again.

John 3:3

“For God (the Father) so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son (Jesus), that WHOSOEVER believeth in Him should not perish (in hell)

but will have everlasting life (in heaven).

For God did not send His Son Jesus into the world to condemn the world,

yet whoever does not believe is already condemned,

because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

John 3:16-17

If you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus,

and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

For with the heart man believes unto righteousness;

and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation...

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:9-10,13

… If this is you (or someone you love) …

With your mouth – just acknowledge that you want to turn from sin,

Acknowledge Jesus as God’s Son who died on the cross for all of our sins.

Repent and turn from your old way of life and ask Jesus to become your Lord and Savior

and follow Him from now on.

He will be faithful to guide you.

Tell Him you want Him to come into your heart, and thank Him for it.

… If This Is You …

It's true that we are living in dark days.

We may not understand everything going on around us,

the seeming delays to our prayers being answered,

the pain, problems, or sufferings in different ways,

but we can be assured that God will never run out of might, power, or strength

and He freely gives it to those who belong to Him.

We  have to stand in faith and take Him at His word and pray

“Lord, right now by faith, I pray for your endless, matchless strength to be able to have great endurance”.

By faith, I believe it is mine, and I receive it from you right now”

This divine strength, power, GREAT endurance, and patience can even allow us to remain cheerful and thankful

in the midst of our circumstances because we know that He is a good, good Father,

and He can work all things together for good to those who love Him, and are called by Him.

Taking Jesus as your Lord and Savior is the key to SALVATION.

Your SALVATION is the key to becoming a child of God.

Becoming a Child of God is key to Receiving the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Key to being STRENGTHENED with God’s Matchless Power (Might)

God’s Power is the key to having GREAT ENDURANCE with PATIENCE.

The RESULT of PATIENCE is the ability to not give up or lose hope, but press through.

If I am going to give you any hope of being able to endure and hold on,

it is only by ensuring you stay connected  to the source of all hope: The Lord Jesus Christ

the Prince of Peace who will fill you with His peace,

and encouraging you to stay in very close fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

God sees, He hears, and He knows.

He is aware of what you are going through.

He has promised to never leave you, or forsake you.

He will never abandon His people.

He will be with us until the end.

Just that one promise alone helps us hang in there and be strong.

And You are Never Left Without The Ability To Have Great Patient Endurance
